I am now officially retarded in art history. Specifically, far eastern art history.

I'm being completely serious. Is it possible to be learning disabled in art history? Because I am. I am dead serious when I say I think I need an IEP. It doesn't make any sense for an A student - and a junior at that - to be getting a D in a FRESHMAN LEVEL ART HISTORY COURSE.

hey, uh...
you're, uh...cute...KTHXbye.
*runs away like a scared puppy*

..It's probably not even going to matter about that bad grade. None of that 'school' stuff matters. (What aren't you getting any way? Why do you think you need an IEP?)

What REALLY matters is money.
Play the lottery. Or. Rob...people.

First off ... thank you eversomuch ;)

Second ... I have a scholarship and a little line on my degree that says "University Honors Program" that I want very, very badly for all the work I've put into it and all the extra seminars I've taken - that I could lose if I get even a B in this class.

Third ... I just found out this class is SPLIT down the line between Art History majors getting A's and A-'s and Fine Art/Studio Art majors getting C-'s and D+'s. (There are about 30 AH majors and 10 FA/SA majors in the class.)

Fourth ... I just don't GET bad grades. This isn't acceptable for me. I have a 3.5 GPA and have never gotten a grade lower than a B- in college, EVER ... my average in the class right now is a 72, which is pretty devastating for the amount of work I put into it (I've never studied so hard for any test as I have for QUIZZES in this class.)

I found you by looking at the Homestar community, so I figured I'd check out your LJ...

Anyhow, I was wondering, why is it people feel the need to know art history, art design, or art culture to actually BE artists? This might not be specifically your case, and I don't want to sound like an asshole or something, but to me, I was never interested in to much art design or history, and certainly not culture. I consider myself a hell of an artist, and I know right about dick, as far as what real art knowledge you can learn in school goes.

Rock on. Keep Rockin.

I despise art history; it's required for me to take four classes from their department before I graduate.

The only art history courses I've ever liked are the ones that the art department teaches: Visual Theory, Aesthetics, and Criticism (basically a class in postmodern theory and the arguments for and against it, the backlashes, the effects ...) and History of Graphic Design. So next semester I'm taking the AHI department's class in Modern Art. Gotta see how that works out.
